There is an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that it’s probably the worst thing you’ll do all day. Brian Tracy uses this metaphor in a book by the same name (Eat That Frog!) to describe tackling the most challenging task of each day – the one most likely to be procrastinated, and yet the one most likely to have the greatest positive impact in our lives. Running and getting back into shape is my frog.

Careful there, you might start to enjoy that frog.

That’s a neat concept, and one that would be good to take on board. Get the frog out of the way and the rest of the day is plain sailing!
